Journal 10

"Give your reaction to Perry’s confession in the car. Comment on the details he brings up. How did you respond to this information?"

I believe that everything he said was absolutely the truth, and that it didn't even occur to him to lie about anything.  I think that how he handled the situation was completely weird.  He felt compassion for the family, said he didn't really want to kill them, and he even protected Nancy from Dick, but he still was the one who cut Herb's throat and started the murdering.  I was disgusted by his confession, but I also felt kinda bad for him, because he had a crappy and backwards upbringing.

Journal 09

"Rate the following characters’ sanity on a scale from 1 to 5 (1=sane 5=insane): Dick, Perry, and Dewey. Explain your reasoning."

Dick:  4
He doesn't really rationalize his actions, or think about the consequences.  He just does things, and a sane person wouldn't kill people without remorse like he did.

Perry:  3
He's not a complete nutter like Dick, but he still killed an entire family for profit, and without much remorse.

Dewey:  2
He's a rational person, but he let the case take over his entire life.

Journal 08

Zone One by Colson Whitehead:  it's a dystopian-esque zombie book.  What's not to love?

Soft Apocalypse by Will McIntosh:  again, it's dystopian-esque, and the plot seems really interesting.

A Billion Wicked Thoughts:  What the World's Largest Experiment Reveals About Human Desire by Ogi Ogas and Sai Gaddam:  I don't often read nonfiction, but when I do I like to read interesting sociological books, like this one.

I liked using MeL and I felt confident using it, but the search features are a bit limiting.
