Anticipation Guide

Directions:  State whether you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning.

1.       People tend to notice when you act younger than you are, not when you act older than you are.              Agree                                       Disagree
Reason/ Explanation:  Though some people pay attention and notice when you act mature beyond your years, most people just don't notice you until you do something stupid or immature, and then they condemn and ridicule you for it.

2.      Jocks always hang out together.               Agree                           Disagree
Reason/ Explanation:  "Birds of a feather flock together," true, but always?  Not true.

3.       Only well-educated people can make a difference in the world.       Agree            Disagree
Reason/ Explanation:  You don't have to be intelligent to do kind and helpful things.

4.      It’s okay to tell a lie if it makes somebody feel good.                  Agree               Disagree
Reason/ Explanation:  Sometimes.  A big lie is bad, but a little lie to maybe comfort someone is okay -- as long as the lie doesn't hurt someone.

  

5.      I never care too much when I lose something.                 Agree                           Disagree
Reason/ Explanation:  Losing things that were once yours sucks.

6.       Money always causes trouble.                   Agree                           Disagree
Reason/ Explanation:  It's the cause of a lot of trouble, but not all the time.

  

7.      You have to let children make mistakes so they can learn from their decisions.

            Reason/ Explanation:  Learning through doing is much more effective than learning through a lecture.  And learning the hard way makes the lesson stick much better.
